Bescor TH-660
Hello...
I've been looking for a started pod and it seems that the Libec TH-M20 is highly recommended. It also seems that the Bescor TH-650 is the same thing, but rebranded. The 650 isn't made anymore, but the TH-660 is widely available. I noticed, though, that it has a different tripod (twin-spar top with dual-tube bottom vs. twin-spar top and bottom). Does anyone know of any differences between these models? Is it just the tripod? I like that it comes with an additional floor spreader for the same price. JJ |

I own the Bescor TH660 and love the sticks but hate the head, This model has a lower and upper spreader. The upper spread became a pain trying to retract it. I am a one man operation so I don't have a lot of time to set up. I removed the top spread and adjusted the bottom so I would have a height the works for me. I am able to drop and go. There is very little set up with it.
The downside to this tri-pod is the head. I hate it and am going to switch it out with another better built fluid head. I have found the there is a lot of horizontal play. I have tried everything to correct it. I have tried tightening the ball and everything else with no luck. Even with my XL2 balanced on it I still have the problem. The unit cost around $250.00 through BHphotovideo and came with a soft case.
