Need recommendation to replace old Bogen 501 head and pedestal. at DVinfo.net

I have an old pedestal tripod with 501 head that I take on the road with me when I am shooting with my slider. It works very well but is pretty used up. I need to replace the head and sticks.

I do a lot of shooting in manufacturing plants and what has served me well is having a pedestal tripod so I can quickly raise and lower my shot depending on the machine.

The other variable is I have a Cobra Crane Backpacker jib that fits the 501 head mount.

So all this leads me to replacing it with a 501HDV (is that the version that replaced the 501?) but I've not looked at these tripods in a very long time. I have Millers that I use for "normal" shoots.

Anyone have recommendations of what to look for to meet these criteria?
