Markins Q3T ball head and Manfrotto clamp?

Hi guys,
Has anyone used a Markins Q3T ball head with a Manfrotto 577 clamp? I just bought the Markins to go on a Gitzo Traveler tripod for stills shooting, but all of my other gear is based on the 2" quick release plate (Sachtler FSB4 and Manfrotto 561BHDV-1). I'd rather not keep switching plates on the camera, but I'm concerned that the 577 may be too unwieldy on such a small system as the Gitzo/Markins. Thoughts?
