Head for wildlife/EX1

Usual story, I'm trying to get a better camera support on a broke graduate student
budget. I scrounged an PMW-EX1 to replace my VX2000 and I can now tell that the
Libec TH-M20 tripod is not smooth enough at the long focal lengths.

I record fireworks, which is basically like tracking fast moving wild life in the
air. I need smooth(er) tilts. I would like a fliud head that works about half again
as smooth as the TH-M20. I have a manfrotto 501 and I don't like the way that
moves but I don't mind the weight.

I can't afford a Vision Blue. Ideally, I'd be in at 1/2 or 1/3 of that price.

Is the Libec H22DV head in the LS-22/TH-950 somewhat better than the TH-M20 system?
