This has been recommended before and is what I'm saving up for.

Re: Bestvideo tripod up to 700$ for 5d ii
I just purchased an E-image 7050 set-up with a fluid head for $400 that works extremely well. See my post in this forum; it's a lot more tripod/head that I ever expected it would be for the price, easily matching the $1000 + Manfrotto head and legs I've got.
Very smooth pans and tilts, locks down quickly and is rock stable with my 11 pound camera and rails mounted. |

Wayne, what Manfrotto system do you have and what camera are you using?
To the OP, I have a Libec DV22, $300 at BH, it's light, well made and is decent enough for my Panasonic GH2, which is smaller than your 5d. The DV22 is the model Libec recommends for a GH2, undoubtedly I could do better with more of a budget, but a lot of or most of the pricier tripods are no good for dslr shooters because dslr's are just too light. Personally I don't think the tripod world has caught up with the demands of the new hybrid cameras. So shop wisely, it's not easy to spend big on a DSLR tripod. |
