What is tripod "Wind-up" ??
Hi guys,
I need help with a term i keep reading in reviews of Tripods. People refer to some legs suffering from wind up / wind down during panning. What is this phenomenon and is it a big deal? Sorry if this is a noob question but i come from a 100% stills background and i dont understand the video nonclementure. Thanks! Rob |

That is when the legs bend slightly in opposition to the drag on the head. When you reach the end of your pan the tension from bending of the legs has to be released or it will result in the camera moving back in the opposite direction of the pan. It looks like the camera bounces off a stop at the end of the pan.
Sudden moves like that are jarring when you are expecting a nice smooth end to the pan.
