Tripod Question - from Newbie
If this question sounds like its from a 5 year old, its because I'm literally clueless about this stuff and just learning. I got a tripod from a friend, its by Rocketfish, the model is RF-TRP65C. It seems like a very sturdy tripod and the Best Buy description says that it should have a quick-release mounting plate for easy attachment and a 3-way fluid pan head for smooth shooting. Problem is that there is no mounting plate on this thing. And seems like without that, there's no way to mount my camera on this tripod and making this tripod useless.
Except after reading some posts here about tripods, seems I should be able to replace the whole top piece. Is that called the head? I cannot find part for this specific tripod anywhere on the net. Is it possible to replace this part or do something so I can save this tripod? I have it and would love to make use of it. Any suggestions? |

Hi Raji....................
Don't fancy your chances, quite frankly.
As you have discovered, parts are impossible to source: Replacing the entire head MAY be possible with something from Manfrotto (check out their stills camera support catalogue) but first you'd need to remove the existing head from the 'pod and make certain that the 'pod to head mount is compatible with Manfrotto. It is about this point that the law of diminishing returns kicks in and it may be smarter to simply start from scratch with a completely new unit - check out the B&H web site for a pretty comprehensive range.
