Bogen 503 Head problem
I'm having problems with my Bogen 503 fluid head. When I tighten the pan knob to pan there is this jolt when paning to the left. When I pan slowly the small jolt is gone. Is this right? Maybe I am panning too fast when its tight, cause when I loosen it there are no jolts when paning fast. I havent used it much so I dunno why its like that, I can't remeber it being like that when I bought it. Any advice appreciated thanks!

Strange, I just noticed that mine is acting funny with the pan drag tightened way up as well. It sticks at the beginning of a right pan. It'll be ok for a few starts after that but will stick again after sitting for a few minutes.

If you are using a bowl head, make sure the 503 is properly secured to the bowl. Make sure all the screws are tight, as the head may be slipping.
I had this problem with the tilt, so I sent it away to service. Not had any issues since.
