Need help in choosing cheap but functional fluid head tripod
Hello,
I am working in a new tv proyect, and i will buy 2 dvc-60, but i need a cheap tripod cause, 1. wont be used outside the studio = weigth not a issue 2. will be used only with a dvc-60 = not a heavy camera 3. Has to have a fluid head = need pan and tilt with smooth motion. 4. Has to be cheap. 5. If tripod too expensive i could choose only the head and build the stand. Hope anyone that have been in this situation bougth a practical, cheap but functional tripod that could recommend me. Thanks a lot.

In my book, "Killer Camera Rigs That You Can Build" I recommend using a surveyor's tripod. The cost is about $70. The are plenty strong enough for DV work, and I've even modified them to hold a large crane. As far as fluid heads go, I've had a couple of small Miller heads for over 20 years, and they are still going strong. So I think it's pretty safe buying a used head. There are always quite a few on ebay.
