I use the same tripod with or with out the WA. My choice of legs is Bogen 3246 and Bogen 501 head. I have 3 of those setups and they all work fine with both of my 150's and even my old VX1000. HEAVY though, but as solid as a rock.

I'm using an old Miller head on a set of bogen sticks. I move the head from tripod to tripod depending on my needs.
If I wanted a good mid-priced tripod system just for that camera, I'd go for the Miller 5 at about $800. Not only a good tripod but a very reliable manufacturer.

If you mean the sub-$200 Libec, give it a pass. Nicely made although the locks do bend if struck. What it doesn't do is pan worth beans.
It doesn't have separate lock and drag knobs so when you losen the pan lock, the entire tripod head then rocks. Terrible video footage results. Unless you are going to lock the camera down, give it a pass. I used these for locked-down applications.

well, looks like i'll end up with a sachtler dv2. can't find anything on the net from users one way or another - but a fair amount re 501 vs 503, a few good comments re miller, and a few bad about most others...
if you're using a dv2, get in your comment pretty quick before i spend my hard earned pennies.... thanks for all your replies leslie |

I use 525 sticks with a 503 head for my DVX and it works like a charm. It'll set you back about $750.

if so, how about the new libec 950dv? otherwise it looks like the miller ds5 (would like the ds10, but not enough budget). leslie |
