Looking for a solid tripod head..

Hello all!

I am designing a new crane that will need a large tripod head to hold cameras such as JVC HD110 - 200U, XL H1 etc.. But can accomidate for much larger 16mm film cameras.

The most important thing is its ability to hold a moderately heavy camera and be mounted on the platform of a two person crane.

I'm going to base the design of the two person platform around the head but first need to know what my options are..

I saw some fluid heads awhile back that looked reaaaly solid but I can't think of the name..

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks for the help.
-Terry.

Hi Terry.............

So, what are you looking for - 100mm bowl, 150 mm bowl, Mitchel mount - what?

Maximum supported weight?

Budget?

Hey Chris,

Well i'm not entirely sure to be honest.. My knowledge in this area is not that good. I suppose the Mitchel Mount since that is what they mention in the design I am modeling mine after..

Thats what I was afraid of.. I figured the best to offer in this price range was the Manfrotto series. I guess it'll have to be the ole 503 head.

Thanks Chris.
