Pan Tilt Head - Tripod Compatability Chart
It has occured to me that there must be numerous cases where a chosen head will not work perfectly with a particular set of sticks, for whatever reason.
A case in point is the Vinten Vision "X" Series heads, which appear, at this time, to be incompatable with ANY NON Vinten sticks. Conversly, there must be plenty of "Z" brand heads that work perfectly with "Y" brand sticks Definition of Compatable: Full head angle adjustment available, adequate bolt thread length ditto, bowl clamp handle lobes do not hit legs/ hinges/ prevent tripod closing, 75/ 100 ball sits in 75/100 bowl correctly etc - any others are most welcome. If you are aware of any definate head/ tripod compatability issues of any sort, can you let me know the makes/ models concerned? Similarly, if you know that a specific head make/ model is totally or partially compatable with another manufacturers tripod, can you let me know that as well. Assuming I get enough feedback data, I will compile a chart of the results and ask Chris Hurd if he'll post it as a sticky for reference. Knowing BEFORE the big purchase that trouble is looming would save a lot of folks a lot of grief (I believe). If anyone can think of other equipment compatability data that would be usefull (and collectable!), fire it at me, it may be possible to do that as well. Thanks.
