Gitzo GT-3530LSV
Anyone have experience with the Gitzo GT-3530LSV tripod, 503HDV head and 75mm ball leveller? This will be for the Canon XH A1. I need something lightweight for shooting in lots of different situations from outdoors to press conferences, for a daily newspaper web site. Thanks for your help.

I bought the XLS version of this same tripod:
http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...6X_Carbon.html I think it is outstanding. I previously bought a Gitzo traveler tripod. I use the Gitzo fluid head on mine, but for your use the 503 should be fine. The Gitzo is extremely light weight and the new features of the legs that don't twist, etc. are excellent. The 75mm bowl plate will come out and can be replaced with a 100mm bowl plate or a flat plate that will take a flat head. I have looked at just about everything, and to me the Gitzo legs are the best you can get for traveling. They are very sturdy, very resistant to torque. I use the 3540 Gitzo legs with a Canon XH-A1 and a JVC HD-110, as well as a DSLR. The best deal seems to be the package you referenced as the tripod comes with the bowl. With the XLS version you have to order the bowl separately for about $45, and the tripod itself is $100 more. However, I mention the XLS version since you say you are going to be doing press conferences, and you may need the extra height. Also, for your use, you may want a lighter bag than the Bogen bag that comes with your kit. ----------------------------- If you want to spend more, the Sachtler with carbon legs is very nice: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produc...bon_Fiber.html |
