Vinten Vision 3 on Sachtler Speedlock 75 Legs...Help Please

I purchased the Vision 3 and Sachtler Legs and am having trouble with the bowl clamp knob assembly. The one on the Vision 3 allows almost no movement and the Sachtler legs do not close properly. Has anyone been able to get this combo to work properly??

Ah...............

The old "Vinten bowl clamp too large for receiver design" trick.

It is, unfortunately, a bit of a dead end.

Does the same with Manfrotto sticks too.

The only solution is to either:

Find out what that thread size is (I don't know) and see if by some miracle another head manufacturer does a clamp with that thread (reckon you'd get better odds on walking to Mars).

OR

Take the head and clamp to an engineering firm and get them to knock you up a new clamp using the appropriate threaded rod and somehow organise a new smaller swivel cup to go on the end of it (not sounding promising either).

OR

Take the head to same engineering firm and get them to cut the ends off those handle lobes and cut a huge chunk of that swivel cup away to give the head some adjustment room (this is by far the best option 'cos if they stuff up you can just buy a new clamp from Vinten).

OR

Replace either the head or the sticks for a mate from the same stable.

BTW. Vinten is very aware of this problem, tho' have shown no inclination to do anything about it. I did suggest they just get in a box of Manfrotto clamp blanks and machine them to fit their threaded bolt - didn't go down to well.
