Hard Drive Question: Naive & Dumb Edition
Okay, I got a new customized computer with two hard drives. One is 400 GB, the other 500 GB. So far I can only access the C: drive, 400 GB. I can't summon up the second drive, even though BIOS shows it's there. How do I go about this?
Thanks! |

if bios shows the drive, it should be seen by the OS... maybe it needs to be set up - fdisk and format?

IF it is Win2000 or WinXP, right click on My Computer and choose "manage". Then when the Computer Management window appears, look for "Disk Management". If you see your second drive, right click on it and create partitions, then format. Bingo, yer done.

Yeah, it'd be nice to have a wizard come up when you have a new drive installed or at least the disk management console come up...

*Update* I checked Disk Management and found the other drive, which I'm now formatting. Yay!
Thanks again... Last edited by Barry Rivadue; June 22nd, 2007 at 05:16 PM. |
