Anyone out there doing in-house corporate video?

Does anyone knows of any groups or forums specifically for those of us doing in-house corporate video? I see a lot of content for indie filmmakers, wedding videographers, etc., a lot of which is still very helpful for me...but would love to hear how other one-person media departments are run in other organizations.

If you don't know of anything, but are interested in something, I'd like to hear that as well. I'm not against exploring the possibility of starting an online community if there is some interest.

Thanks,
Dawn

Hi Dawn,

I'm not "in house" per se, but my largest clients are large corporations and I've been doing video for some of them for nearly 15 years.

I don't know what software you use, but I've found an amazing community of corporate videomakers at the local Final Cut Pro users group. We have corporate shooters from the major local utilities, city and state governments, major hospitals, and other major employers and they all appear to be using FCP in their shops.

You might check in your area and see if there's an FCP, (or Premier, or Vegas, or Avid or whatever) group in your area where the corporate shooters hang out.

I would also imagine that Chris Hurd probably wouldn't have a huge problem with carving out some virtual space for a sub-group like that if there's enough interest.

Chris? You reading? Thoughts?

Dawn,

Indie work is where I want to be, but corporate work pays the bills.

So much of what I use in making a film fits right in with the corporate work it sometimes blurs in the process. So I guess what I am saying is if you have any questions just ask someone will have done it or is doing it and will help you.

You could also contact Chris Hurd about adding a new forum to his already great community.
If the interest is there, he is more than happy to make room for us.

Bill

My day job is with the Army as a multimedia specialist, which is a glorified title for a "jack-of-all-trades" digital video and computer imaging guy. We do our own safety training videos, live broadcasts and web spots using desktop solutions. It's fun work, sometimes demanding, but still can't complain.

Interesting you mentioned "in-house" productions. Never noticed there was no forum for such. Would be great to start one.

I KNEW I wasn't the only one out there doing this! :)

I'll try and contact Chris and see what the possibility might be of piggybacking on to what already exists here...

Stay tuned.

Thanks,
Dawn

I do the in-house video work for us...

I handle the "in-house" video work for my employer. Nobody else wanted to step up and try it, so I do it now. And I love it!

Here are our vids: Youtube.com/truckaccessories

I'm actually so psyched about doing video that I want to try and make a movie now...
