Laptop Problems!

Okay...so i have this "Almost Brand New" (I bought it new...but that was a lil while ago) laptop that i've been using for a little while now...
However, it's been having some technical difficulties. I plugged it in one morning and it just sparked! The light on my battery charger went off and stayed off. i unplugged it and turned the laptop on to see if i'd lost any Data. i hadnt. After unplugging the power cord from the laptop, the light came back on. (The little green light indicating power). i pressed the battery refresh button and tried it again...as soon as i plugged the power cord into the laptop, the power cords indicator light went right back off.

I'm stumped. This was a few months back and as you can imagine the Laptop is totally dead now...no juice.

What's The Problem!?!?

My first assumption was that you had a bad power supply, but then you stated "After unplugging the power cord from the laptop, the light came back on." which may lead to a bad battery. If you could borrow a power supply you could test that, and if it is, a replacement would not be too much. If new/temp power supply doesn't help then it's the battery. Coulda been a power surge. Hey, at least you gotta reply!
