XL1 in the movies
I saw the movie "Showtime" last night. Robert De Niro and Eddie Murphy are detectives who get filmed for a TV-reality show a la Cops.
The cameras used by the production team filming them for the reality show? XL1's, natch.

Also noticed the XL1 in "Jackass".
Not sure if that's a ringing endorsement or not.

And in latest James Bond... there already was a thread on this
here And if memory serves me well there is another large thread somewhere here that lists a lot of movies with the camera in it (with one movie having it as set piece for a porn producer) but I can't seem to find that thread at the moment though...

Dead Zone is shot here in Vancouver, I think. I saw a quick "behinds the scenes" of DZ, and it actually looked like they were shooting pick-up/b-roll footage with an XL1. Maybe it was supposed to be used as "video" footage in the show, I dunno.

XL1 In The Movies
An XL1 (or XL1s) is also featured in the movie "Mr. Deeds" with Adam Sandler (which I saw just tonight). In the opening sequence with the old man climbing K2, his cameraman is using an XL1.
However, Mr. Deeds is NOT a good movie, so unless you're really hard-up for personal validation at having your Camera seen in use in a major motion picture, I'd skip it...

I didn't know ESPN would use XL1(s). I watched a behind the scenes show on Vegas Fights. I saw 2 XL1(s) handheld.

I might have already mentioned this. But I saw XL1s beeing used on Oprah. They were shooting an interview backtage. And you could see the Xl1 used to shoot each reverse shot.

Nice cameo for the XL1 in "The Italian Job". It's being used for surveillance in a couple of scenes with a whopping Canon telephoto attached.

Yeah, the XL1 is in the movie showtime, I almost crapped myself when they smashed one...i'm sure they went through plenty of them for that scene though, heh....
Yeah, there was also a GL1 used too, it was when they went into the office, the guy put a gun in the deck of the GL1, and then he shot the gun inside of the GL1, and they did some really unrealistic slow motion crap of the bullet coming out of the lens of the camera and shooting the guy, it was pretty stupid. They also use XL1's on the Howard Stern show... that station also uses PD150's and XL1's for a lot of shows...so does MTV, but most of the garbage on MTV sucks anyway. |
