This is a cool thread!
I listen to a lot of Radiohead and Air when I write. Sometimes Kinda Blue by Miles Davis (though it's been a while) or general classical, no-vocal jazz. I can specify some albums I wrote scripts to: For Skye Falling, I listened to Radiohead's The Bends, OK Computer, and the Airbag EP, along with Air's Moon Safari. For 9:04 AM, my next film, I listened to a lot of Soundgarden, mostly Badmotorfinger and Superunknown. And of course Radiohead and Air. Mostly mellow stuff, unless it's a horror, then horror music. I try to do specific music to specific genres I'm writing. Pantera for action, etc. Shooting, I'll listen to a song a couple of times that I think can help me convey a moment or a scene--I'll even force the actors and crew to listen. Editing, nothing, unless I'm capturing video or something. I can't focus while cutting or logging. heath
