If Microsoft made the iPod...

The box would look like this:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0pXL5...crosoft%20ipod

I just read and article in today's Wall Street Journal about whether Microsoft and the PC makers could ever get "cool" like Apple. They cited this video as an example of the problem. But the really interesting thing is that the video was created by a couple of Microsoft's own designers! The article concluded that as long as there are people like this at Microsoft there's still hope :-)

If Microsoft made the Ipod, they wouldn't need to advertise.

Huge props for Apple's propoganda department though. No other company could take such a mediocre product and make it part of popular culture.

Special props to Diamond Rio. The people who invented the portable MP3 player, and fought the battle in the courts, thereby paving the way for Apple, once again, to capitalize on an idea.
