What DV-related stuff did Santa bring you?
On Christmas Eve morning, my sister in Louisiana sent me an Amazon.com gift certificate, so I immediately went online and ordered a book that I've been wanting..."My First Movie: 20 Celebrated Directors Talk About Their First Film." Later that day, I got the receipt from Amazon that it had already been sent.
Next day, on Christmas morning, I had a package delivered from my sister in Texas and it had...yep, you guessed it...a copy of "My First Movie." Some of the family telepathy at work. So...anyone get any unexpected DV goodies from Santa? |

I got nothing. But then again, I'm Jewish. (I didn't expect anything.) My wife did happily feed me, though, and let me peck one of her cheeks.
On the bright side, I'm going to wait til January, when prices are cheaper, and then go on a DV buying spree! (God helps those who help themselves.) Merry Christmas!! from rainy Vancouver! |

My wife got me a new 12 inch 800 mhz iBook, it's been great having it, I shot a friend's band a couple of days ago, right after the show I put some of the footage on the iBook using the RT Offline mode, they had never seen FCP in action. Also used it on a photo shoot, downloaded the photos into iPhoto and then burned some cd's of the pix for the models.

I got an Apple Airport and I've hooked up all the computers and printers on a network and everyone has internet access via the cable modem. Now all I need is a TiBook so I can lay in bed and type all these responses.

"Legal Guide for the Visual Artist", fourth edition by Tad Crawford was the only DV related goodie I received. I looks like it will have some useful information.

I got $250 in gift certificates to Lens and Shutter, our local camera store here. Now I have to decide what to get.. a new SLR camera body, a new lens, or put it towards new video equipment? Decisions, decisions :)

Not DV, but computer related...
I got the Microsoft Wireless Optical Desktop Pro kit. Natural wireless keyboard and optical mouse. It works incredibly well, plus it's BLACK so it matches my computer and monitors! ;) |

Macromedia
Studio MX.. Web/Computer stuff. I did the self Santa thing though.
I totally hacked off eveyrone in my family (inlaws included) over Christmas, so other than you folks no one I know talks to me any more. I wanted to shoot (where they were not) and they wanted to jaber jaw (with me). Oh well be true to thine own art I say. And I still didn't get any decent footage because of being snowed in. I did get to test my Kata raincoat in heavy snowfall though and so far so good. Mark p.s. just got back to Texas and have not done Christmas with the wife so there is still a chance for some goodies..

Self-Santa: 16x Manual / Servo lens for my XL1s. Nice lens.
(From wife-Santa: iPod 10Gb ... very nice gadget, highly recommended for all Mac users that use their ears for entertainment.)
