Interview with Apple's G4 processor supplier CEO

Interesting interview with the CEO of the G4 processor (in Apple's Mac Mini and laptops) manufacturer, Freescale. He explains why IBM isn't working with Apple anymore (not the other way around) and when he worked for IBM and he sold Steve Jobs on the G5 five years ago, when Jobs almost went with Intel.

I had talked to someone at IBM and he told me that their Fishkill PowerPC G5 plant couldn't afford to make the processors because Apple couldn't sell as much. So supplying to the Xbox 360 and the upcoming Playstation 3 made financial sense.

In the meantime, I love my Quad!

How can a company be just about everywhere, and yet nobody knows its name?
Well obviously they're trying to change that. I was travelling recently, and in the 6 airports I passed through there were multiple large posters advertising Freescale.

then I sold it to Apple that the G5 was good and it was going to be the follow-on of the PowerPC road map for the desktop. It worked pretty well.
Wow, his enthusiasm is really contagious! ;-)

Thanks for posting that link Heath, interesting article.
