Hah! What a hoot! One has immediate visions of using the dv camera for "In room" filming... then inadvertantly leaving your home - grown porn on the hard drive for the next gues...
Hmmm.... I smell a screenplay in there somewhere.... excuse me,... |

Okay, I've seen hotels offer complementary use of an iPod, and my initial thought was, "I'm not gonna stick those headphones in my ears." I mean, who knows where those things have been? Yeeesh. I guarantee there's no way that I'd go anywhere near a complementary VIDEOCAMERA that's been through any sort of "in-room" use. YUK!
And don't get me started on the KEYBOARD.....<shudder>......eeewww! |

Geez guys, none of that ever occured to me! :-) BTW, Married with Children did a very funny episode (which never aired) with a plot much like what you suggested Richard, but of course it was a VHS tape left in the VCR....

Number 1
How many guests know how to use the G5 OS? Number 2 How many guests can just simply pick up a '...hand-held digital video camcorder ' ---- and ---- 'iMovie, iPhoto, iDVD, iTunes and GarageBand' and start cutting away. Crazytalk. |

I have no idea how well they'll do with all this, but it might not be a bad way for someone to explore the Mac and video while enjoying a vacation. Learning how to use a camcorder isn't rocket science anymore or Best Buy and Circuit City wouldn't sell so many. And iMovie and those other programs are pretty intuitive also, even for people who never thought they could use them. |

I think the people who stay at the Tribeca hotel, tend to be hip and happening media types who would know how to work a Mac. The hotel targets that market. They even have a very cool theatre in the basement where I've attended a few film festivals (despite my not being a very hip & happening dude)
I wouldn't be surprised if they get customer complaints because FCP, Pro Tools, and Photoshop are not loaded. That's just the type of crowd you're likely to get in Tribeca. For the hip/happening crowd that don't need /have no use for technology, there's always the Mercer Hotel
