Nostalgia
I just glanced at the Yahoo! headlines just now and noticed that the four top movies of the weekend (as far as they were concerned) were "Herbie," "Bewitched," "Land of Dead" and "Batman Begins." I may be wrong, but didn't the original incarnation of all four of these franchises co-exist at the same time at one point? I just thought it was odd. I can't remember the last time that happened. And with the exeception of "Night of the Living Dead," none of the originals were particularly good as I remember. If this is the best material we have to recycle, the future does not look promising.

It's a bit amusing for me to see how often they've been mining the past for interesting subject and plot lines for current movies. Things really were better in the Sixties (and before) and all these retro-productions show that this is acknowledged by the movie makers. Eventually, teenagers may rediscover the joys of Big Band music.
