DVDojo Out of Business
I went down to the DVDojo (www.DVDojo.com) in the Bowery this past weekend on an excursion to NYC, and decided to stop off at the Bowery Poetry Club Cafe which is next door to the Dojo. After some time waiting for the Dojo's gates to open, they finally did, to reveal a totally gutted interior! The guy at the poetry club said they shut down about a month ago.
Ah well. It was a neat concept. I imagine they went out of business due to the overpricing of their workshops, but I don't really know. If anyone around here knows, pipe up! |

Huh. Must have been fast. Their Web site still shows upcoming events.

The only events it seems to list are some screenings - which is possible - I saw some chairs through the window in the back room. It's possible they're still showing films now and then. Upstairs from the Dojo is Washington Square Films, and they were all supposed to be friends, so my guess is there are still some things going on there - but the Dojo with all it's editing equipment etc. as it was, is gone.
