Ah, Rob! I think you left out a third possibility and that is "more lake".
"Meer" was one of the words that I used to get into discussions about with my Dutch friends (usually after some good beer) at bars over in the Maasland/Naldwijk area above Rotterdam. It was usually followed by the comment "But in English you say...." |

Hehehe, pretty pointless discussions, but I guess that happens
over a couple of beers eh. But language discussions can be very interesting. Especially the meaning of the same word in different languages.
