how much did this terrible film cost?
I recently watched a film called 100 million bc and i was shocked at how bad it was, there were even cgi helicopter shots where they couldn't even be bothered to finish it correctly and the helicopter just vanishes before the shot is over.
It was so bad i showed it to my filmmaker friends and we got talking about how much it cost, I tried to find out online but drew a blank so i was wondering if any of you knew the answer........ whatever it cost it was too much. Im guessing they had some kind of a budget cause it was shot on a sony f900. Andy.

YouTube - 100 Million B.C.
I think I could come up with a drinking game that might make the movie a lot better... at least until the morning after :p

To be fair, it's a movie called 100 million BC about army soldiers who travel back in time and fight dinosaurs.
If you expected this to be good...

I get your point Brian, i never expected it to be good but i also didn't think it would be so monumentally bad!.......i honestly urge people to watch this just for a laugh, and keep your eye out for two shots in particular....the vanishing cgi helicopter and the shot where the cgi actors jump 60 feet out the chopper and land on the road..... i laughed my ass off with that one Andy

The one good thing about a film like this is that one can always get a copy of it, edit the (bleeeeeep) out of it with different audio and make fun of it. ...it might make a great YouTube spoof.

I don't think I've ever read worse reviews of a movie in my life. Ouch. Seriously though, good question. I'd like to find out the budget for this one too.

On the bright side, the film makes the "movie" that my son and his friends made, look good.

100 Million BC was produced by a group called The Asylum
The Asylum They specialize in cheapie, direct to video knockoffs such as Transmorphers. Upcoming "productions" include Sunday School Musical (eek!) and The Day the Earth Stopped. A couple of these look half way interesting from a B movie, MST3K standpoint. I almost rented their Cloverfield knockoff. |

The Asylum-interesting company.
I believe one of the founders is a consumer advocate(!) and they are able to make a profit because their titles are close enough to big blockbuster movies that people mistake their movie for a better known one. Buyer beware. I Am Omega is my favorite title. I think it cleverly combines I Am Legend with the Omega Man. I dont plan to see it but I think the title deserves credit-can be hard to come up with a good Mockbuster title. Guess which better known movies inspired these titles.. Lead Man The Darker Knight Beverly Hill's Chihuahua ;) |

Well, I've got to respect their... uh... something... they put out more movies than a porn company... with almost as good production value!
Here's my current fav - Death Racers - starring the Insane Clown Posse (kill it juggalos!) The Asylum

I guess you have to give them their due cause their dvd sales MUST put them into profit, i mean all they would have to sell is a couple o hundred for $9.99 and they've covered production cost ;)..........think you guys in hollywood should be checking your stores for missing f900's. Andy.

There are some film companies that shoot very low budget films. The idea is that the films don't do very well, BUT they do just enough to cover the cost of making it plus some profit. If they don't put too much into the film in the way of costs, it's easier to recover the costs and make money too.
The only bad part is that all their cheap films suck rocks... Bob Diaz |
