Interning with a TV station - what should I know/ask?
I have just got an internship with a TV station, my local NBC affiliate. Being from a narrative film background, I'm excited to learn more about the live/broadcast environment and see how they produce their work.
Before I go into the internship, I'd like to get a basic understanding of broadcast media (workflow, typical software and hardware, etc.) so I can get an idea of the questions to ask, what to look for, etc. This is all very new to me, and I'm having a tough time finding information on it all. Any info is helpful! Thanks very much, Chris Van Patten |

You didn't say if you are interning in production or news.
If production, ask all the questions you can. If news, stay quiet, help carry heavy things and soak up all you can. You will earn respect and crews will want to take you out with them. Enjoy your experience. I work both departments over the years. My love was news shooting though. |
