Hello all, let me introduce myself.
Hello all, my name is Sam.
Well, perhaps that wasn't the most dramatic of introductions, but honestly I blanked out on how best to open this. I just want to introduce myself and join the community here. First off, I've been a long time lurker, as in 3 or 4 years. Generally when I ran into trouble with anything video related, I found that someone else had already had the problem and a solution was already given, so I guess I just never got around to signing up. Well, 3 or 4 years is long enough, so here I am :) I'm not a particularly talented filmmaker, indeed I had given it up for the past 2 years as life just got to busy; however, I really missed it so now I'm back... hopefully. My current setup is a canon t3i (DSLR), Adobe Premiere Pro CS5.5, Adobe After Effects CS5.5, and Lightwave 3D v10.0. I used to have a JVC GY-HD100, but the firewire port went out and I didn't have the $$$ to get it replaced, so I sold it. That said, of all the camera's I've used, that was by far my favourite and if I can scrape together the funds I'm hoping to get a GY-HD110 or 200. I'm based in the USA and am always thinking up things to do, but never getting around to doing them. I guess I just want to say that I'm glad to be here, and hopefully I'll actually come out of my shell and contribute a bit to the conversations. Sincerely, Samuel Wich |

Welcome to the group, Sam. As a guy who has gone through his share of cameras, I can honestly say that it's not just the tool that makes for a quality final product (but it doesn't hurt to have good equipment to begin with).
Best of luck to you in your future productions. |

Re: Hello all, let me introduce myself.
Thanks for the warm welcome guys, glad to be here.
Oren, I entirely take your meaning. I've seen marvelous work done with the barest of materials, and some remarkably bad work done with some of the most sophisticated technology available. The equipment is just something I try and learn and upgrade in between projects. |
