Chris, north London
Hello all! My name is Chris, I live between London and Luton.
My day job is in sound, although more on the live side than broadcast. I design permanent installations for live venues, theatres, churches and the like. In my own time I have done a bit of location recording for projects of my friends. Its really great to see how busy the sound forum is on these boards. I’ve been producing videos for about five years on and off, doing all sorts from magazine style pieces from expos and conventions to live gigs and adventure vids. I love climbing and mountain biking and walking so hope to do a lot more of that this year (if it stops raining!) A few years ago I sold my XL1 and got a 5D for its “amazing” video capability. I soon got distracted by its amazing stills capability and spent a year or so indulging my photographic side. I found my senses this year and have started doing more video again. Without rehearsing a well exercised debate I must say I miss a real video camera sorely, as pretty as the pictures an SLR can be. No audio inputs, record time limitations, terrible form factor.... You can find my Vimeo channel here (https://vimeo.com/chrisaustin). I find myself in the position of never being 100% happy with any of my productions, but usually for different reasons. I nevertheless share them as getting feedback is critical to improving. I’m really looking forward to getting involved with some of the contests that run here, they look like a fun challenge. I’ve read DVInfo for years so its finally time to get involved with the conversation, and perhaps even collaborate with some of those nearby.

Welcome to the forum, Chris! That's three new Brits in the last couple of days. You will find quite a lot of us on here, and a lively interest in DSLR video and it advantages – and disadvantages :-)
Your audio experience will be of help and interest to others. |

Welcome aboard, Chris -- I should probably make a UK-themed
skin for this site in honour of all the Britons we have here. But I'm not sure what colours to use for that... |
