North Carolina
Greetings from North Carolina (the Triad area, to be more specific).
This is a great site (so far!). Even when I've read 'disagreements', they do not seem to get personal (unlike some discussion boards)! Very informative for someone like myself who doesn't have the formal education that most on this site seem to have. However, I am getting valuable, hands-on experience! I just completed my first short film (9 min) from a short play I had written a couple of years ago. I shot it with the GL1 (two GL1s, actually - and I had some much appreciated help with the second camera, lighting and sound). Edited with PREMIERE 6.0. Titles are being created and original music is being written as I type! While I finish up this first project, I'm working on my second short, that I may shoot this spring/early summer. Now, let's hope the festivals like this as much as I do!

Hi Mark,
Great to have you with us! A good friend of mine, the best man at my wedding, is in the Raleigh area. I need to give him a call... Regarding our forum policy, it's perfectly legal to disagree with someone, but it's never legal to get nasty about it. When I started this board last year, I wanted more than anything else to offer an environment where different points of view could be discussed in a calm, civil, professional atmosphere. There may be plenty of conflicting opinions, but you'll never see any personal attacks or flaming. That's the beauty of it, and part of the key to our success. The other part of our success is the type of people we draw in not only embrace this approach is, but wholeheartedly encourage it and help to enforce it. A warm welcome to you and please keep as advised as you progress on your second short. Thanks for being here, |

Welcome aboard Mark and very good to have you with us. As
Chris so elegently put it already, it is a friendly place and there is a team behind it to keep it that way. I hope we can see your first short sometime, that would be nice! Other than that I wish you the best of luck and see you around! Cheers.

Thanks
Thanks for the kind words. I'm taking my time, reading the posts and absorbing as much as my pea-brain can take.
As for wanting to see my short - are you sure about that? I'm currently looking for the Insomniac Film Festival - I think they'll enjoy it! : )

Ofcourse I'm sure about that.... and sharing a movie you've made
will get you some response about it, that usually is very helpful (at least to me).
