Mississippi State, MS

I'm a Producer/Director at the Mississippi State University Television Center. Of course we deal with most the video needs of the entire university, but that's not all. My main role is as salesman and producer for "special projects" for private companies and/or firms from off campus. Also, we're heavily involved in athletics, and do two weekly studio programs that air regionally on satellite.

I and our Director for Technology are headed to NAB this year to start a transition to complete digital. Or focus of the first phase is some master control items, ie still store, and chyron. But, my main concern and focus will be on the purchase of a new non-linear system. Our 10 year old Media 100 has got to go. Also, I want to find a good aquisition format that I can use for my special projects, as well as the camera that goes with it.

So, you see we/I have a daunting task ahead of us. Any and all assistance will be appreciative, especially in the technical field. Since we're so behind in NLE, alot the the "buzzwords" are only things that I've read about.

Welcome aboard DVInfo.net Marc! Good to have you with us.

I assume since you signed up for this board you are looking into
(H)DV? There are some pretty high end DV and now HDV camera's
out that can create some stunning images.

In my experience the choice of an NLE is a very personal one. But
the obvious first choice you need to make is platform. PC or Mac.

After that your choices narrow down a bit.

Good luck and enjoy NAB!

I am from the New Orleans, LA area. I currently run Scout Pro Productions, LLC, a small professional videography service company. I am always interested in networking possibilities, new "within industry" friendships, new projects/jobs, and general pro video/photo discussion.

Drop me a line or two anytime and I wish you the best of luck in the future.
