So bottom line is, in the spirit if this thread, why not try and meet up with someone in your own area and see if it works for you? We find that 2 people, and sometimes there's 3 of us - even better, bounce shot and editing ideas off each other raising the quality of our work to new heights. It also helps to have someone to lug the gear round with you/watch the camera while you go get a sandwich/coffee/go have a slash (that's slang for going to the restroom by the way) etc. too! And multi-cam shoots give you so much more creative power in editing.
A good idea. I'm 95% shooting stills but looking to move into DV. If anyone in the north east of England is stuck for a hand, I'd be happy to work for food to gain experience of DV worksflows / environments, so feel free to PM me.

Website showing my stills work, nearing completion here:

Whoops, wasn't trying to start WW3 here...

And Andy, I think you're pretty safe with Cambridgeshire.

I forgot the paranoia about crime in the UK (strange, only been out of the place less than 3 years and it seems a million miles and a century ago).

We currently live in a hamlet out of town, don't need to lock cars, doors or anything else.

Bit of a change from Tottenham, North London, where an open door would have any and all contents nicked in less time than a blink, or even sooner.

Wasn't expecting anyone to give the thieves an open book, just to make their geopgraphical locations a bit clearer to other DVinfo - ers.

Makes suggestions a bit easier and meeting up heaps so, is my guess.

Anyway, it was just a suggestion, not a command, so do what you wish.

Annie:

Hey, the UK owns you, stop gripeing! And who wants to speak Welsh anyway?

Bill:

Er, spent shotgun shells at the door? Sounds like a lot of country places here.

Rabbits, I'm told.

My question: Who sold the rabbits shotguns?

Fixed now. It was because I didn't add "Wales" to Pembrokeshire and the spreadsheet (like most things in Britain) assumes everything is English unless told otherwise :-)

Here's the cheeky bit. If anyone happens to be passing and has a phone with a camera, it would be great if they could take a picture of the scene as the webcam in Piccadilly Circus does not enough resolution to see much detail.
Since I know of at least one person who has said they would try to help, I need to let folks know that there has been a technical hitch. My daughter just got this from the Bebo/Fanta people:

Unfortunately, there were some delays in production, you're face will now be up in lights on the Piccadilly sign from Monday 14th July until Sunday 20th.

Hope you enjoy and sorry for any inconvenience.

The Fanta Crew
Sorry about all this.

Update on DVinfo Brits

Welcome to Steve Pope who brings the number of active Brits I have found to 300. Some names have been removed from earlier versions due to information received about them being no longer active.

Please post if you have any further news or wish some details removed (or want to go "ex -directory" altogether!)

Done, Corey, but I don't think it's going to get you much work :-)

From London (and NYC)

It seems rude not to say hello to fellow Brits.

I am mostly based in London. Currently filming industry colleagues / professionals for a national education and training website at www dot uk film net dot org which is partly funded by the UKFilm Council and supported by Skillset, the BBC and the BFI.

Would love to hear from specialists / experts willing to donate a little time to "piece to cameras" or allowing "on location" "how to's" to help young film makers learn the ropes. (Some small expenses can be covered)

Particularly interested in short film makers, DOPs, those using DOF adapters and Steadicam/glidecams.

I'll post news as we go. Site is currently being built behind the link above :)

Something odd about that website address Dom unless it has no space between UK and film and net. Then the site doesn't open up.
But I might help your cause in teaching? I write a technical column for every issue of Film and Video Maker mag.

Hi folks - take the spaces out and it works.
Not sure why you would want to disguise it - while promoting it - but to be polite I have made it clearer without making it machine readable; http://www . ukfilmnet . org

Kind regards

Hello All,

Just found the thread (belatedly). I'm based west of Bristol. Nice and quiet around here.

I'm working with and XH-A1, EOS-5D mkII and lots of stills gear (Phase One / Canon / Alpa)

There was talk in earlier posts about good dealers - I would wholeheartedly recommend Simon Beers's videogear.co.uk - helpful, friendly and they don't sting you on delivery like most.

Hope to meet some of you one day.

Nick.

Welcome aboard, you've joined the right forum.
I'm from Bristol also, Hanham.
Whereabouts are you.

Hi Paul,

Thanks for the welcome. I'm based at Redhill (quiet side of the airport), but I have an office/studio at Blagdon.

I've been sort of lurking for a while, but not really made much of a contribution.

Feel free to give me a call and drop by (details on my web site) for a coffee / drink.

Nick.

Nice website, cracking pictures.
What sort of video do you shoot/ want to shoot ?

You should put your website name as your signature so it shows below your postings.

Paul.
