New here....
Just wanted to introduce myself to the forum....Hello !!!!
I stumbled across this forum in an attempt to research the process of creating a pilot for a hunting/reality show. I have an equipt cameraman, a location & cast of crew. I'm a bit clueless as to where to begin, but have a few ideas on direction.... Can anyone offer any advice or expertise on where one should begin in such a matter ? Thanks in advance, James Fealey. If this isnt much to go on, please fell free to redirect where & what i should be doing @ this step.... |

How big is your cast?
When you say "hunting/reality show" is this one of those outdoor shows of people hunting turkey & stuff, or do you have a grandoise idea of selecting 8 diverse people with hunting backgrounds & a weekly contest of hunting contests with an end segment similar to Survivors torch or Trumps Boardroom. Basically, your on your own for funding a pilot. No TV channel is going to give you money to create it, unless you're a proven veteran or celebrity is alrady involved (Karl Malone's Great Big Hunting Show). So if it's on of the shows you can go around hunting with your cameraman, gives some astute observations, and crack a few jokes, I'd advise go out and shoot it, edit it down to 22 minutes, and try submitting it either to your local broadcast station for potential Saturday morning/afternoon time, or try submitting it to Versus. Granted, it might get put into a closet with hundreds of others but it's worth a shot. http://versus.img.cdn.dayport.com/im...ubmissions.pdf If you are intending on something bigger, then you basically need to find someone with coin to fund it, an Executive Producer. Good luck finding someone. |

Thanks for the reply David....
The cast is small 2 main characters, with a few colorful ancilary characters along the way. This show wont be like any other hunting show i've personally seen, but i dont want to give away to much of the plot till i'm actually pitching it to someone. Your advice sounds good & i will do what you reccomend, also a friend of mine already had/has(?) a show on versus & i will look to him for additional guidance. Any advice on how someone starting @ the bottom should seek potential executive producers ? Thanks Again !!!! James Fealey. |
