Hello from Midlothian, Scotland
Hello all. I am new to the forum and have been impressed at the layout and the amount and quality of information. I am experienced with photography but a video novice but have a keen interest in wildlife videos / documentaries, particularly birds. Having seen the quality of the work here I am quite embarrassed to say I have been working with: a bottom of the range JVC CRD340EK SD camcorder, and a Canon Ixus 960 bracketed to a Leica birding scope using video mode, editing with Premiere Elements. Well - have to start somewhere.
Yesterday I received a new Canon XL-H1A, and also Canon EF adapter so I can use my SLR lenses with it, accepting the limitations of such a combination. My buying decision was heavily influenced by the information posted on this forum. The forthcoming birding season will be a learning exercise but I hope to make a better video of my local pair of peregrine falcons. I'll post separately on my work so far in an appropriate section. |

Welcome to the list Neil and congrats on your new camera.
I've been keeping a note of the "locals" on dvinfo and I've added you in. At some point I'll repost the updated Excel doc but meanwhile here's a link to the last version http://www.dvinfo.net/conf/935598-post141.html Last edited by Colin McDonald; January 24th, 2009 at 01:54 PM. |

Welcome aboard.
It is a great forum here with tons of info. I have not been to Scotland in a few years. My family live in Falkirk and Stirling. |
