how to produce a travel tv show?
Hi all,
I'm in the ideas stage of wanting to produce my own travel show. I have my first destinations picked out and am interested in any info on how to put it together...I myself will be host, I'll be sourcing out for all other team members. How do you find sponsors and do I try sell my pitch to the travel channel first? Any help on this topic will be very much appreciated! Kind regards...(new member) Soto |

Put together a package of your credentials and a 'sizzle reel' - an example of what a show woud look like.
Then get in line behind a couple of hundred other people and hope they take your calls. Seriously, it's not hard to come up with an idea. Its much harder to come up with a package that says to the channel "This is new, unique and truly marketable, and I AM the person who can do this... no one else can." Otherwise, they'll simply say 'great idea, we'll take it from here'. And yes, its perfectly legal to use an idea. Idea's can't be copyrighted So make sure IF you get a chance to pitch, it's an idea that relies on YOUR involvement to succeed. That's if what you want to do is pitch a concept, and get them behind you. The other course of action is to approach potential investors, with the same package, get them to pony up the money for production - go out and shoot 13 episodes that look absolutely fantastic - then approach a network offering to sell. Good luck |

Richard has pretty much covered it all. Yes, definitely make it unique and interesting. Also make sure they know YOU are the one to make it happen.
btw i see you've cross-posted this on the Taking Care of Business forum... |
