Stuck in Vermont

Hello from the snowy wilds of Burlington Vermont,

I just found this site through a frantic late night web search (sound problems, argh) and am like a crazy kid in a candy store! So much to read and enjoy!

I make videos for an alt weekly in Vermont called Seven Days about local arts and culture. In the past year I have made around 80 videos!!! Yikes! You can see some here:

I shoot them, edit them and post them to to the web. I also do all the producing, interviewing and on-camera intros. I am a one-girl camera crew traveling all over the state to art openings, the circus, the county fair, gay dance parties, the puppet opera, rock shows and then to your neighbors strange art installation!

My background is VFX films, non-profits, 35mm projecting and film festivals in Northern California. I moved back to VT 4 years ago and sort of stumbled into this full-time job at a very cool local paper.

Working for Seven Days as a videographer/journalist is pretty much my dream job (knock on wood) and I am continually learning as an editor, interviewer and video technician.

Video journalism is a growing field as newspapers try to stay afloat in our media age and it is exciting to see what will come next and be on the cutting edge of this ride. No one really knows what is around the corner - we are making it up as we go and the trial and error is entertaining.

Ideally, we want to create good content and tell important stories. I have wanted to do this since I was a kid and finally have a chance to do so thanks to digital video.

I would LOVE to talk to other video journalists in the field. There are so few people that do what I do and my friends are tired of hearing me blab about it. It is great to find a forum where other people LOVE this too!

Thanks and keep in touch!

Best,
Eva in VT
