24p / 25p Low Light Scene Settings
The events I shoot are mostly low light affairs. Having recently got myself a DVX100E (PAL) I would like to shoot progressive but concerned about the light issue, I've played around with the scene settings but not really made any progress in getting a decent picture in low light.
What do you tweak?? BTW, I'm planning on shooting 25p with a 25 shutter speed (the PAL model has these rates) to match my DVC30 which will be on 25 shutter also. |

The first thing you want to do is limit your gain to about 12db or you will have a very noisy picture. If your camera has gain on automatic, it will turn up the gain too high in low-light situations.

Thanks Marcus, gain is adjusted automatically in progressive mode so I take it you're referring to the max limit in menus options, I was assuming 12 would be too high and was going to keep it below this..
