State of the 24p Software Solutions?
I've been wondering if there been many/any significant upgrades in the past year or so to the software solutions to achieve 24p?
And if so, how do they compare to native 24p (approximately)? Thanks y'all! |

Well, since nobody else spoke up...
I can't speak for improvement over time, but I have achieved good results using Sony Vegas 7. Before I got my V1U's, I shot HDV with Sony HDR HC1 and HC3 camcorders. I captured into Vegas, and almost by accident discovered that rendering to 24p just "looked" better. Ignorance is bliss! Not until I actually started trying to achieve that film look did I really understand what I was doing. Rendering from 1080-60i HDV to 24p DV takes a LOOONG time. But looks great. Sony codecs for MPEG-2 must be really good. Since purchasing my V1Us, I have been shooting in 24p. Not only does it look awesome as 1080-24p HDV, it renders to 24p DV much faster. And the people who watch the 24p DVDs think it's HD. It looks that good! |
