Distribution Negotiations
Nice to see you all again;
So we finished our film and managed to work out a theatrical run with a local theater. I also promoted the film in various ways both on and off the internet. To my surprise we started receiving contact from several distributors who were interesed in viewing the film. Next week I'll be shipping off screeners to these interested parties and it makes me wonder, what happens next, and what can I do now to prepare for the process? We haven't sold a film before so I'd like to go into this somewhat prepared. To be honest we didn't expect to be worrying about this until after the next project, but I guess it's a great problem to have. Any tips or advice are greatly appreciated! |

I wonder if you might be able to track down Sam Jones and ask him for some advice. The Wilco film, I am Trying to Break your Heart, is somewhat similar to your film, and I'm sure that he learned some concrete lessons from it. He may also have some interested contacts as well.
