Here is another suggestion...

Set up the tripod in front of the television and record the image.

If that doesn't work, I could transfer it to my Canon Canovision, camera and it will probably do a nice job, for the video look.

I think the longest firewire cable is 50 feet long or something.
They make special firewire cables that can be quite long. These
are specially built and I can imagine therefor quite expensive.
