Audition Flyers
Okay, I have an audition coming up and I need to design a flyer to be posted. I am wondering what some of ya'll put on the flyers? I just don't want to make up a flyer that looks unprofessional that’s all. The movie is a digital feature, if that help is any way. Thanks for your help.

I just posted on Mandy and a few other sites like that, including some work sites for actors. I had probably 200 people respond by email... of course it dwindled down to 12 people actually showing up.

A couple of lines describing the film story might be helpful.
Also the time requirements (one day shoot, every saturday for six weeks, whatever). Is it a cattle call, or do you want people to call/email for an appointment time to optimize their time and yours??

we just put an add in the stage magazine which deals with actors of all ranges from nobodies right up to the pro's and a couple of talent agencies. we were not specific about the film we were making only that it was a digital feature and it was unpaid. We asked that they send their head shots and CV and from there we picked who we thought looked best for each character and asked them to audition. Thats kind of a blend of cattle call and appointment.

I would say not to worry about the "design" of the flyer. Just the details as pointed out in the other post in straight text is fine.
I ditto the Mandy.com recommendation. Also if you go the SAG/Indie route you can post either on the local offices hotline or on SAGindie.com (even if you're considering it, you can go this route and if no SAG actors are picked you don't have to worry about it) I think posting flyers is really going to limit your talent pool. You'd be surprised how far people will drive to do a good project. Good luck |
