Free royalty free b-roll?
Just finishing up editing a music video for a friend (read no charge) and wanted a few scenes of b-roll of various things such as a hearse, waves etc. Any recommendations on an inexpensive source of b-roll for download?
Thanks Harry

Re: Free royalty free b-roll?
While it is possible to find free footage on the web, it's very limited and most often nature stuff. Once you start to identify exactly what you want (like a Hearse) you probably won't find anything.
In these circumstances, I start looking at YouTube. With millions of minutes of footage, you may find what you're looking for. For example, here's eight minutes of footage of a Hearse parade: The Day That Hearses Ruled The World - Part 1 - YouTube Once you've found the footage you want, you need to be polite and get permission. I've found a nicely worded email will work 99% of the time ("I love your video of the Hearses - I'm working on a free project for a friend and I'd love to use a few seconds of it...") Now you need to download that footage. There are several ways to do that with YouTube, but I'll let you google that info. |
