Interview Title effect: How ?
Folks.
Watching the F3 S-Log Vid. World's First Sony F3 S-Log Test - Behind the Scenes I would like to know how to do the title effect (seen at 00:40 seconds in) where the interviewed person's name and title are shown via a black sliding bar that display for a few seconds and then slides back ... Is that a 3rd party effect (if so which one) or something i could native do in FCP or PP5 Thanks in advance ... Justin. |

In PP, you can create the title as you like it (complete with black bar background) and then use your motion keyframes to slide it in and out as needed. No need to go into AE, unless you're looking for more sophisticated character animation capabilities.

Do you have Motion? This is similar to one of their templates and you could just mess with it to do and look what you want in Motion. It looks like "text sliding panel" to me.

Re: Interview Title effect: How ?
This is easily done with a matte and text using the motion tab. Go into the help and read about that tab and look for a section that describes how to apply motion to a clip.
Then do this on your timeline: On a track above the video, insert a Color Matte from the Video Generator tab of FCP and make it as long as you want it. Use the Crop settings on the motion tab of the Matte to crop it to the width and height you want. Use key frames on the "center" fields of the basic motion of the motion tab of the Matte to set the starting position of the matte offscreen, then onscreen, then off screen. Create the text track of the same duration as the matte Use the Center field of the Text object's Controls tab (Not the motion tab) to position the text on top of the matte. Click the matte on the timeline and select Edit->Copy Click the text object on the timeline and select option-V to Paste Attributes. This gives you a dialog box to choose the attributes of the Matte to paste onto the text object. Select only the Basic motion. This in effect puts the same motion keyframes on the text object. |
