investor tax break for indie films
don't know if it has been discussed here at DVinfo.net
on another site Rogelio Salinas III found article 181 in the American Jobs Creation Act of 2004 ... basically 181 it allows one that invest in a FILM to deduct the total amount in the current tax year ( if they choose) - in the past you had to do it over many years ... 75% of the $$ paid to actors/directors/crew/services must be paid to persons/company's in the USA ( as in shot in USA- does not require persons to be US citizens - foreign actors must shoot in USA and be paid here) ... there is a top budget limit of 15mil ( or 20mil under certain requirements) - there doesn't appear to be a min budget amount ... here's a few links that give a little more info on article 181 http://www.reish.com/publications/pd...nmentaug05.pdf...... page 2 http://www.nyc.gov/html/film/downloa...ion_181_qa.pdf http://www.nyc.gov/html/film/downloa..._provision.pdf http://www.fvldlaw.com/articles/FVLD...tions_0606.pdf |
