how to legally make a video of illegal immigrants?
i'm in the process of making a documentary about the immigration issues in the United States, and I was wondering what kind of things legal things would I need in order to interview an illegal immigrant I know. He, of course, wants to remain anonymous, so do I still need a release form from him? If so, wouldn't that ruin his anonimity? Also, can the authorities request this information about the subject from me supposing this went on TV?
Thanks, Ernesto. |

I would film him agreeing to be filmed... have him read the release form and agree to it on camera. Then maybe have him sign the release as "Jose Doe"? I think just having him sign anything on the release could be proof of his writing... we accepted checks signed with an x or o (sometimes both) at a bank I worked at...
That's in no way legal advice, just friendly suggestions! |
