For those of you who have attempted to use Kickstarter.com to fund a project, what was your experience like?

Were you successful or not in funding your project?

What kind of promotion did you do for your kickstarter campaign?

If you were not successful in meeting your funding goals, what did you learn from the experience?

I tried it as an experiment - I was curious about the concept.
I wasn't successful, luckily I didn't really need the funding. But I know some people that were successful.
You basically have to bring your fans to the site. I think if you have a large following or know how to use social media effectively you have a good chance at making it work - and a good project wouldn't hurt either.

I did learn that social media just isn't my thing...
