18-month time lapse?

This morning I had a request for a quote on an 18-month time lapse of a major building project. I have some ideas using a digital camera and a laptop, but I want to know if anyone has done anything similar, what equipment you used and how you priced it.

I want it to be high quality, not web cam type stuff.
