Getting Film Reviews???
My film is done, the fun is over, and now the really hard work begins: PROMOTING AND SELLING the thing.
Anybody have any thoughts on getting reviews for your indie production? I don't mean the Roger Ebert level, but by people who would be recognized by the target audience. My documentary is about fairies (yep, the kind with wings). I just sent a request to someone who is known in this field asking if they would be willing to review my film. Is this type of "cold calling" with an email acceptable? Anybody have success with getting reviews from famous people? I'd love to hear your stories... Re: Getting Film Reviews???
I'm not really interested in these movie review sites - there are just so many of them. I never go to any of them if I'm researching a movie. And a review by one of them on promotional material doesn't impress me.
If you have a movie about bicycle racing wouldn't some words from Lance Armstrong about your movie be great for promoting your movie to that audience? That's the kind of reviews I want on my promotional material. |
