invoices & receipts
Hello.. happy holidays to eveveryone!
I have a little question.. I did a little :30 sec commercial to a restaurant.. they asked me for an invoice.. I am not a company or a stablished video business, but I do some freelance jobs onece in a wild.. Can I make an invoice let's say on MS word.. ad my logo.. and just give that to them? can anybody give out an invoice or receipt? or how it works when they ask for the invoice.. has somebody have experience something like this? suggestions are welcome! Thanks a lot!

thanks for the info ... i was kind of worried abot it... so I guess i just make an invoice and give that to my clients!

Yep. As long as it has your name and address and such on it. They will likely ask you for a W-9 (??) with tax SS number or tax id on it.

what if I still don't have an office...? and i don't have a tax numer or anything like that? I just did the commercial... can I still ad my logo to the invoice?.... or what are the elements that must be on an invoice?

Your logo on your invoice is fine.
You can write out an invoice on a cocktail napkin and it wouldn't matter, not very professional but if the person paying doesn't care, there is nothing "illegal" about it.
No-office number...no problem. A cell or home number will suffice. In your case, your tax number would be your Social Security number. The other elements should be: All of your pertinent contact info, especially mailing address to where the check is being sent. A "To" section. This will contain all the pertinent info of the client, including company name, contact name, address and phone number, etc. A "For services rendered" section that would describe what they were paying for. This can be broken down into sections for itemization if necessary. A "Total Due" section...self expalantory. RB |
